Focus and Scope
Toxicol TIMES is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to publishing high-quality, original research and authoritative reviews that advance the science of toxicology in all its dimensions. The journal serves as a dynamic forum for toxicologists, pharmacologists, environmental health scientists, risk assessors, regulatory professionals, and biomedical researchers to disseminate cutting-edge findings on the adverse effects of chemical, physical, and biological agents on living organisms and ecosystems. With a strong emphasis on mechanistic understanding, hazard identification, and risk characterization, Toxicol TIMES bridges fundamental research with practical applications in public health, occupational safety, environmental protection, and regulatory decision-making. The journal welcomes studies that elucidate the molecular, cellular, biochemical, genetic, and physiological mechanisms underlying toxic responses across species and exposure scenarios. This includes research on xenobiotic metabolism, genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, and endocrine disruption. Toxicol TIMES places special importance on innovative approaches that enhance the prediction, detection, and mitigation of toxic effects—such as in vitro and in silico models, high-throughput screening, toxicogenomics, and alternative methods to animal testing. The journal also publishes rigorous risk assessment studies, exposure assessments, and research on emerging contaminants, including nanomaterials, microplastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and environmental pollutants. In recognition of the interdisciplinary nature of modern toxicology, Toxicol TIMES encourages submissions that integrate toxicological science with environmental health, occupational medicine, regulatory science, clinical toxicology, and public policy. The journal values methodologically sound investigations that yield robust conclusions, including well-designed studies reporting negative or non-replicable results, as these contribute critically to scientific transparency and evidence-based practice. By rapidly disseminating reliable, peer-reviewed knowledge, Toxicol TIMES aims to inform hazard communication, support regulatory standards, protect vulnerable populations, and promote the development of safer chemicals and sustainable practices. The scope of Toxicol TIMES encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas: -Molecular and cellular toxicology -Genetic and epigenetic toxicology -Systemic and organ-specific toxicity -Ecotoxicology and environmental toxicology -Regulatory and forensic toxicology -Clinical and analytical toxicology -Occupational and industrial toxicology -Food and drug safety toxicology -Nanotoxicology -Computational and predictive toxicology -Toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics -Biomonitoring and exposure science -Risk assessment methodologies -Application of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in toxicological evaluation
Policies
Peer Review Policy Double-blind peer review is a cornerstone of scientific integrity and scholarly excellence in toxicology publishing. Toxicol TIMES employs a rigorous double-blind peer review system to ensure the originality, scientific validity, methodological rigor, relevance to toxicological science, and clarity of all published work. In this process, both the identities of the authors and the reviewers remain confidential to eliminate bias and promote objective evaluation. Submitted manuscripts are assessed by active scientists and experts specializing in relevant subfields of toxicology—such as molecular toxicology, risk assessment, ecotoxicology, or regulatory science—who provide critical, constructive feedback on the study design, data interpretation, ethical compliance, and overall contribution to the field. Authors are expected to thoughtfully address all reviewer comments and incorporate necessary revisions to enhance the scientific quality and presentation of their work. This collaborative process significantly strengthens the reliability and impact of published research, ensuring that Toxicol TIMES meets the highest international standards for open-access toxicological scholarship. Plagiarism Policy Toxicol TIMES defines plagiarism as the unattributed use of another person’s ideas, text, data, figures, or findings—whether from published literature, conference proceedings, theses, regulatory documents, or unpublished sources—including the reuse of one’s own prior work without proper citation (self-plagiarism). Submitting a manuscript that substantially duplicates previously published content, even with minor additions or modified datasets, is considered a serious breach of publication ethics. All submissions are screened using advanced plagiarism detection software. If significant plagiarism is identified at any stage of the publication process—by editors, peer reviewers, or editorial staff—the corresponding author will be formally notified and required to revise or remove the unoriginal content. Toxicol TIMES also reserves the right to investigate suspected cases of data fabrication, image manipulation, or other forms of research misconduct. In accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), confirmed cases of plagiarism or duplicate publication may be reported to the author’s institution, funding body, or relevant regulatory agency. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarized material will be rejected immediately, and the author will be advised to thoroughly revise and resubmit only after ensuring full originality and proper attribution. AI Policy Toxicol TIMES requires full transparency regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in manuscript preparation. At the time of submission, authors must explicitly declare—through the Copyright Agreement Form and the Online Journal Submission System (JSS)—whether any AI tools (including large language models, data analysis assistants, or text-generation software) were used in the writing, editing, data interpretation, or figure generation of the manuscript. If AI assistance was employed, authors must clearly disclose the nature, extent, and purpose of its use and affirm that all scientific content, conclusions, and interpretations remain under human authorship, oversight, and intellectual responsibility. Submissions that fail to provide this declaration—or that rely on AI-generated content without critical validation by the authors—may be desk-rejected. Toxicol TIMES emphasizes that the conceptual design, experimental execution, data analysis, and scholarly interpretation must originate from the human author(s), in alignment with ethical standards in scientific publishing. Open Access Policy Toxicol TIMES is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are immediately, permanently, and freely available to read, download, share, and distribute worldwide, with no subscription fees or paywalls. By submitting to Toxicol TIMES, authors and copyright holders grant all users a free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual license to access, copy, use, distribute, transmit, and publicly display the work, as well as to create and share derivative works (such as translations, policy summaries, or educational adaptations) in any digital or printed medium—provided that proper attribution is given to the original author(s) and the initial publication in Toxicol TIMES. Users may also produce limited printed copies for personal, educational, or non-commercial use. This open-access model ensures that critical advances in toxicological science—whether in hazard identification, risk assessment, regulatory guidance, or public health protection—reach a global audience of researchers, regulators, clinicians, industry professionals, and policymakers without barriers, accelerating evidence-based decision-making for the protection of human, animal, and environmental health.

This license permits anyone to copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work—including for commercial purposes—as long as appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the initial publication in Toxicol TIMES is clearly cited. This open licensing framework ensures the widest possible dissemination and application of toxicological knowledge for the benefit of researchers, regulators, clinicians, educators, and public health professionals worldwide. Author’s Warranties The author(s) warrant that the submitted article is an original scholarly work authored exclusively by the individuals listed, that it has not been published previously in any form, and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The manuscript contains no unlawful, defamatory, or ethically objectionable material and does not infringe upon the intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights of any third party. The author(s) affirm that they hold full and exclusive copyright to the work, free from any prior licensing agreements, encumbrances, or third-party claims, and that all necessary written permissions to reproduce or adapt copyrighted material—such as figures, tables, data from regulatory documents, or extended excerpts from scientific literature—have been obtained and properly acknowledged within the manuscript. User Rights Toxicol TIMES is committed to maximizing the accessibility and utility of toxicological research by disseminating all published content under the CC BY 4.0 license.
